A portable PC. This term has now been replaced by Notebook, as the original laptops were big and heavy.

Leased Line

A high-speed permanent link to a server such as an ISP, allowing fast 24 hour network access.

Legacy System

Old computer systems that are used by companies to such an extent that they are almost impossible to replace.

LAN

Local Area Network. A series of computers connected with cable in the same building enabling them to communicate with each other.
