WAN
|
Wide Area Network. A LAN which is distributed across
at least one other building, normally by means of
a router or modem. A WAN can be a series of LANs in
different buildings connected together.

WAV
|
A term commonly used to describe a sound file stored
on a PC.

Winsock
|
WINdows SOCKet. A 'portal' or 'socket' which Windows
machines and the Internet software loaded on them
use communicate with the Internet.

WWW
|
World Wide Web (aka 'Web'). The graphical side of
the Internet, allowing the use of multimedia to stimulate
the interest in a particular page.

WYSIWYG
|
What You See Is What You Get. A way of describing
that the layout of a document on the screen (including
fonts) is what you get from the printer.
