Further Information

The Mac OS has a history to well before Microsoft Windows, in fact Microsoft got the idea for a graphical user interface (GUI) from Apple, the owner of the Mac OS.

Mac's have always been excellent for graphical packages, and were always the favourite for designers. The user interface is fairly easy to grasp and easy to use.

Mac's are now more associated with being a design statement, no-one can deny that they look far more visually appealing than PCs. Having a colourful computer in the living room of your house tends to looks far better than a grey box.

The latest version of the operating system, Mac OS 10 or OS X as it's more commonly known brings multitasking and multithreading to the operating system. Features a new look desktop, and can boast more stability over the previous versions.

However what I find annoying about all Mac's, is that the mouse has only one button. Being a PC user all my life, this frustrates me! ... (yes I know you can use a two button mouse, but both buttons do the same!). On the other hand, those who have been Mac users all their life probably can't see a reason for having two button functionality.

I make the distinction between PC and Mac users, Mac OS will only run on a Mac, it will not run on a PC. The hardware is completely different.

You may find a version of Linux on a Mac, however this will be rare. You'll probably never come across a Mac with Linux installed on in the home.
