Does this effect me? Should I be worried? after all, it only emails some of my friends!?

These are important questions. Basically there is one answer to each question...

YES, it does affect you.
YES, you should be worried.
NO, they don't just email your friends.

Although some viruses do just email the people in your address book, not many only do this. Emailing itself to everyone in your address book is the way in which it spreads, it's 'payload' (or what it does) is usually far more sinister. Some delete system files, some delete your documents, some disable your operating system. Some even destroy your BIOS, which is a critical part of the computer's hardware.

Other viruses are known to send personal information to someone else on the internet, or share with the rest of the world your credit card details.

Viruses come in all shapes, sizes and payloads. Don't run the risk, unless you are happy with loosing your files at any time! You need to ask yourself one vital question... "how would it affect you if your computer files were deleted?". more...

There are a number of easy way's in which to help protect yourself from computer viruses, click here for more information.
